week-on-week-changes

NBP Natural Gas & GB Power Market Movement

Markets continued to rise overall during the week. Prices rose strongly on Monday following strong movements in the Carbon markets and despite some oversupply. Prices fell on Tuesday due to oversupply and expectations of higher wind power for the next working day.  The Oil price gained despite the US announcing further tariffs on Chinese imports which could result in lower demand for this commodity.  Both the Coal and Carbon markets slipped that day too. Prices rose on Wednesday with the outlook for cooler weather on the horizon being the main driver for rises along with forecasts for lower wind power.  Price rises prevailed on Thursday, with rising demand and cooler weather bolstering prices as well as a continued rises in the Oil and Carbon markets.  By close of play Friday, the October annual electricity and gas contracts closed higher by 4.15% and 4.92% respectively.
