Report Summary:

Further falls not expected

NBP Natural Gas & GB Power Market Movement

Prices falls came about during the week for power prices but ended the week higher for the gas.  UK gas consumption was once again softer week-on-week which kept a lid on the extent of the gains seen in the gas market.  LNG send out remained fairly strong but was down nearly 23% compared to the previous week.

Norwegian gas imports to the UK rose, with gas production recovering following an outage at the SEGAL system.  UK gas production was once again higher during the week and is expected stable in w/c 18th February.  The Carbon price fell starkly -8.68% but the Coal price closed the week slightly higher.  The Oil price recovered strongly +6.68% supported by OPEC-led supply cuts following an announcement from Saudi Arabia.  By close of play on Friday (15th February) the April 2019 annual contracts for electricity and gas closed -0.82% and +0.88% respectively.
