Report Summary:
Strong gains over the week
NBP Natural Gas & GB Power Market Movement
UK energy prices ended the week higher with stark gains seen in Carbon prices; Coal and Oil gained 2% flat and 3.88% respectively. Demand from the domestic sector fell 1.32% but drivers such as low wind power and outages of UK and Norwegian gas producing facilities kept grid conditions strained. Concerns over Russian deliveries via Ukraine, production at Gronigen and LNG supply also boosted prices during the week. By close of play on Friday (12th July) the October-2019 annual contracts for electricity and gas closed higher +10.46% and +13.22% respectively.
