The Suppliers We Tender Across
Not one price from one company. A genuine market tender.✔ Whole-of-market tender ✔ Bills checked, not just switched ✔ Free and no obligation ✔ Rated 4.6 on Trustpilot
Comparing business gas sounds simple: get some prices, pick the lowest. In practice it is the part most businesses get wrong, because the quotes you are handed are not built to be comparable, and the lowest headline number often is not the cheapest deal.
Why Gas Quotes Are Hard to Compare
Unlike domestic energy, business gas has no published tariff table.Every quote is built for your meter, your volume and the market on the day. Which means:
> No two quotes are structured identically. Different terms, different standing charges, different assumptions about your usage.
> The headline unit rate hides the standing charge. A low unit rate with a high daily charge can lose to the opposite.
> Quotes expire fast. Prices move with the wholesale market, often valid the same day only.
> Usage assumptions differ. A quote built on an estimated volume is not the same as one built on your actual consumption.
Comparing them properly means normalising all of it.
The Only Number That Compares: All-In p/kWh
Reduce every offer to total annual cost divided by annual usage, and suddenly they are comparable.Take a real July 2026 quote we secured for a large user consuming around 208,000 kWh a year, from one supplier on our panel:
| Contract length | Unit rate | Standing charge | All-in p/kWh |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12 months | 5.860p | 648.81p/day | 7.00p |
| 24 months | 5.355p | 663.62p/day | 6.52p |
| 36 months | 4.990p | 678.36p/day | 6.18p |
Rates exclude VAT and CCL. A single supplier’s quote, not a market average.
Note the trap. The option with the highest standing charge (36 months, 678.36p per day) is also the cheapest overall, by roughly £1,700 a year against the 12-month. Compare on standing charge and you would reject it. Compare on unit rate and you would pick it for the wrong reason. Only all-in gets you there honestly.

What Our Comparison Involves
We establish your real position, tender it, and normalise every offer.Your Real Position
Actual consumption, meter details, contract end date and current rates. Not estimates.
Tendered to the Market
We approach suppliers across our panel with your specific meter and volume, and let them compete for it.
Normalised and Compared
Every offer reduced to all-in p/kWh, across matching terms, on the same usage assumption. Then presented plainly.
Comparison Site or Broker? An Honest Answer
Both have a place. It depends on what you are.> A comparison site suits you if you are a small site, you want a quick indicative price, and you are happy to self-serve.
> A tender suits you if your consumption is meaningful, your usage profile is non-standard, you have multiple sites, or you want someone accountable after the contract starts.
The real distinction is not “more suppliers”, it is what happens next. A comparison site’s job ends when you click. Ours starts there: checking your bills are right, watching your renewal window, telling you when to fix. That ongoing part is where most of the money is actually lost or saved.
If you are a single small meter looking for a fast number, we will tell you so.
Comparing Business Gas FAQs
How do I compare business gas prices properly?
Reduce every quote to an all-in p/kWh: total annual cost divided by annual usage. Comparing headline unit rates alone ignores the standing charge and will mislead you.
Is it free to compare business gas through you?
Yes. There is no cost to you for the comparison and no obligation to proceed.
How many suppliers do you compare?
We tender across our supplier panel rather than quoting a single price. The number that matters is not how many logos we show, it is whether your meter was genuinely priced by more than one supplier.
Can I compare business gas myself?
You can, and for a single small meter it may be all you need. It gets harder with multiple sites, non-standard usage profiles, or when quotes are structured differently.
Why do quotes for the same meter differ so much between suppliers?
Suppliers have different positions, appetites and views on risk. That variation is exactly why tendering beats accepting one price.
